An Online Experience Worthy of Canada’s World-class Mountains

Of course she is, we’re at Sunshine Village and she’s putting on a show worthy of her name. Days before we’d been at Fairmont Banff Springs taking in the speakers at The Gathering.
Our chatter about getting up on the hill had attracted the attention of the team from Sunshine and in between planning first tracks that weekend we got chatting about their website.

The challenge was clear. “Our brand has outgrown our site - every year we sell more online, and it’s in spite of our site,” said Kendra. She’s Sunshine Village to the core, and her and her team knew they needed the right partner in their corner.
Today, two seasons later, Sunshine Village have grown their e-comm share exponentially and they look damn good doing it.

Discovery led solutions
The best strategies start with a proper definition of the problem. A substantial investment of time in UX, analytics, and SEO audits at the front-end of the project helped establish the reality of the challenge facing both the brand and would-be customers hunting for hill passes and other products. In our planning we prioritized the actions their audience typically took and identified efficiencies in that process. Putting all key interaction points no more than a few clicks deep.

Core to Sunshine’s identified web strategy was the increase in revenue from supplementary products like lessons, rentals, and other passes. The same “flat-structure” principles were applied, resulting in 140%, 36% and 151% more sessions respectively.

Engaging an International Market
Post-launch, Sunshine came with a new challenge, this time to engage with a burgeoning audience with an altogether different purchase (and literal) journey. Expanding the web experience to cater to identified international markets that condensed the new experience into a single conversion-optimized flow.
Working with Arcane was a collaborative process that allowed us to create a website that met our needs, while staying true to our brand identity.
